Percy Valentine Storkey (1893-1969) was born in Napier. He left New Zealand for Sydney in 1911, and joined the Australian Imperial Force on 10 May 1915. Storkey was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at Hangard Wood, France, on 7 April 1918.

This portrait is on permanent loan to the Australian War Memorial.
