My father said that this scene was re-created after an action the previous day. The participants were required to stand and pose in this position for some considerable period of time in the tropical heat while my father sketched the scene, and to make it look more authentic, he threw buckets of seawater over them. You can imagine the types of comment he received from his subjects at the time!
